Apparitions of MARY, the Mother of God

The following are some key apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  After the date and place of the apparition, follow the known recipient(s), notable titles for Mary, or contents of her messages.  These are briefly stated.

Note:

** The apparitions (w/double asterisk) have been given full approval by the Roman Catholic Church.

 

*   The apparitions (w/single asterisk) have been given the local bishops approval.

    Others have been given the local church approval, or are "pending full approval" at this time.

None have been “disapproved” by their bishop; and only Medjugorje  remains  under church  investigation. 

• **  352 – Rome, Italy (Pope Liberius):  Could it have snowed one hot summer night in August, in Rome, Italy?  The pope, his entourage, and several citizens of Rome are said to have witnessed an amazing and miraculous snowfall in the early morning of August 5, 352 AD.

• **1251 – Aylesford, England (St. Simon Stock):  “Take, beloved son, this scapular of thy Order as a badge of my confraternity and for thee and all Carmelites a special sign of grace; whoever dies in this garment, will not suffer everlasting fire.  It is the sign of salvation, a safeguard in dangers, a pledge of peace and of the covenant.”

• **1531 – Guadalupe, Mexico (Juan Diego):  “Holy Mary” – ever Virgin – “Mother of God.”  Patroness of North America, “Merciful Mother,” and “Queen of Heaven.”

• **1830 – Rue de Bac (Paris), France (St. Catherine Laboure’):  The Miraculous Medal, The Immaculate Conception, “Mother of God,” her protection and encouragement; great graces.

• **1846 – La Salette, France (Melanie Mathieu & Maximin Giraud):  Reverence for her Divine Son, keep Sunday holy, prayer, and penance.

• **1858 – Lourdes, France (Bernadette Soubirous):  “I am the Immaculate Conception.” Prayer and penance, healing waters, the “Mystical Rose”, “Our Lady of Miracles.”

• **1871 – Pontmain, France (two boys & two girls):  “Our Lady of Victories,” “Our Lady of Hope,” (“Pray my children.”) and the Holy and Immaculate Heart of Mary.

• **1879 – Knock, Ireland (at Knock church, seen by 15-20 individuals):  On the eve of the feast of the Assumption, Our Lady appeared with St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist.  “Our Lady of Comfort,” the Blessed Virgin, our Blessed Mother.

• **1917 – Fatima, Portugal (Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco):  An Angel of Peace prepared Her way, most likely Michael the Archangel. “Queen of the Most Holy Rosary,” “Mother of Sorrows,” consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Eucharistic reparation, the rosary and the brown scapular.  (“Return to the Gospel.”)  During the final apparition she appeared with St. Joseph who was holding the Infant Jesus.  Our Lady asked for the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart.

• **1932-33 – Beauraing, Belgium (33 times to 5 children):  Penance and prayer, (“Pray very much.”) “Mother of God,” “Queen of Heaven,” “the Virgin with a Golden Heart.”  “Mediatrix of all Graces.” (“Build a chapel.” )

• **1933 – Banneux, Belgium (8 times to Mariette Beco):  “Virgin of the Poor.”  Prayer, penance, duty to God, and a secret.  A spring of “waters of healing” was given for all nations – to relieve the sick.

• *1945-1959 – Amsterdam, Holland (many times to Ida Peerdeman):

  Initially warnings and prophecies were given concerning the second half of the 20^th century.  "The Lady, and Mother of All Nations."  The image and prayer of the Lady of All Nations was given to be spread throughout the world in preparation for the final Marian dogma:  Mary, Coredemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate.  The 5^th Marian Dogma will bring about a completely new outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  Mary also addresses the nations of the world to show them the way to the daily Miracle, the Eucharist. 

• *1961-65 – Garabandel, Spain (to four young girls, ages 11-12):  Eight times an Angel (Michael) appeared; these usually preceded visits by Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.  Pray the rosary; pray for priests; Holy Eucharist; and obedience to the church.  Four supernatural events were foretold.

• *1968 – Zeitun, Egypt (to thousands of people):  Mary appeared as a white, silhouette figure within a brilliant light, a number of times, a top the Coptic church of St. Mary’s Basilica.  Since she never spoke nor delivered a specific message, she acquired the title, “Our Lady of Silence.”  White or golden luminous doves and incense smelling smoke often accompanied her. 

• **1973 – Akita, Japan (to Sr. Agnes Katsuko Sasagawa in a Catholic convent):  She appeared as “Our Lady of Sorrows” (“Pray the rosary for conversion of sinners.”)  Between July 6 and Sept. 23, 1973, a statue of Mary wept 101 times.  Sr. Agnes’ guardian angel taught her the Fatima prayer to say at the end of each decade of the rosary.  In 1973, this prayer was virtually unknown in Japan.

• *1976-87 – Betania, Venezuela (to stigmatist, Maria Esperanza Biancini, and to thousands of people): She appeared as “Our Lady of Lourdes,” “Our Lady of Mt. Carmel,” “Our Lady of Sorrows,” or as “Our Lady of Grace.”  Call for frequent sacraments, reconciliation and understanding.  Water from a cascade for healings and conversions.  She was also named, “Our Lady of Reconciliation” or “Our Lady, Reconciler of People and of Nations.”

• 1981 – Kibeho, Rwanda (to 6 girls and one boy usually in a R.C. school): “Mother of the Word.” (“To Jesus, through Mary.”) The rosary, prayer, and love, repentance, and the return of Jesus Christ. 

• 1985 – Naju, So. Korea [to Julia Kim (mother of 3) and through a statue of Mary weeping tears, even tears of blood]:  Prayers, sacrifices and penances.  Anti-abortion messages.  Graces and benedictions for many souls. (“Pray with Me.  My Immaculate Heart will triumph.”)

• 1987 – within the Soviet Ukraine (to several individuals on various occasions):  Mary appeared above the church of the “Three Holy Ones of the Blessed Trinity” in Kherushu.   And she appears in open field shrines.  She comes to show us “the Way” and awaken our sleeping hearts; urges us to pray and live her messages.
