During the month of May, we give honor to our mothers, especially Mary, the Blessed Mother of Jesus Christ.  Traditionally, May 1st is May Day, a day the Church sets apart from other feast days to venerate Our Lady, Our Queen.

Throughout the world, people create fresh wreaths of flowers to crown her images.  And, on any given day in May, those who love her may be found participating in May Day processions, praying the rosary, her litany, or any number of Marian prayers.

May is also known to be the month when numerous flowers burst into bloom.  Perhaps this is why May is Mary's Month.  Our Blessed Virgin Mary is associated with a lovely array of flowers that symbolize her purity, humility, and other virtuous attributes.  Certain flowers symbolize events in Mary's life such as The Visitation, her Divine Maternity, Seven Sorrows, Assumption into Heaven, and Coronation as Queen of Heaven and Earth.

Mary Gardens abound.  And, what exactly is a ‘Mary Garden’?

During this month of May, we invite you to read about “Flowers of Mary”, and their fragrant symbolism.
